Cameron Diaz’ career took off when she signed up with Elite Model at only 16.  For the next few years she worked all over the world doing modelling gigs for among others Calvin Kline.  She was featured on the cover of Seventeen in 1990.

She landed her first acting role in 1992 in the movie She’s no Angel – and then quickly afterwards had her big break with her lead role in The Mask.  For the next three years, Cameron Diaz stayed away from large films and studios – preferring to break slowly into the business through roles in smaller, independent productions.  During this time she still managed to get plenty of media cover as the girlfriend of Matt Dillon.

Returning to the mainstream, major studio productions in 1997, she had a big hit with her role in My Best Friend’s Wedding.  In 1998 she was nominated for a Golden Globe for her role in the movie There’s Something About Mary, and she was nominated again for her brilliant role in Gangs of New York in 2002.

Diaz was now a major name in Hollywood – earning $20 million for her role in the Charlie’s Angels sequel.  Apparently she was the second actor to do so in the history of Hollywood!  Read more about the net worth of Cameron Diaz here.
